Como en el presente, hay verbos de bota, hay irregulares en el pretérito que sólo son irregulares según unos pronombres específicos. En el pretérito, estos verbos se llaman verbos de sandalia porque sólo son irregulares en las formas él/ella/usted y ellos/ellas/ustedes (las dos categorías de abajo).
Like in the present, there are boot verbs*, there are irregulars in the preterite that are only irregular following specific pronouns. In the preterite, these verbs are called* sandal verbs because they are only irregular in the él/ellos forms (the two bottom categories).
Por ejemplo, algunos verbos cambian para mantener el sonido y pronunciación.
For example, some verbs change in order to maintain the sound and pronunciation.
En los que siguen, en vez de cambiar a “ió / ieron” , usan una “y”
